Bet365 Group Ltd is one of the largest online gambling companies in the UK, making €525 million in profit in 2016. In addition to their main sportsbook activities, they offer a comprehensive online betting package that includes an online casino, bingo hall, poker room, and more.
Bet365 is also an award-winning online casino, with a good-to-excellent rating on many third-party sites. Their bonus terms and conditions are very fair, with a low wagering requirement.
Although their banking system is thoroughly explained, it is relatively slow when compared to the top online casinos’. Their game selection is also smaller than most, especially when it comes to video poker.
Launch date & location
Bet365 was launched in 2001 in Staffordshire and continues to be based there today. Their current address is Bet365 House, Media Way, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 5SZ, United Kingdom. They employ over 3000 people in Stoke, as of 2018.
Governance structure and ownership
Bet365 is the operating name of Hillside New Media Ltd. The head office is in Gibraltar, currently located at Unit 1.1, First Floor, Waterport Place, 2 Europort Avenue, Gibraltar. Bet365 is still owned by its founder, Denise Coates. She and her brother John Coates remain joint CEOs. In 2017, Denise attracted criticism when she paid herself €217 million at the end of the year.
Bet365 is licensed and regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, or UKGC (license number 39584). The UKGC is one of the premiere licensors in Europe, and they consistently conduct audits and investigations of their licensees.
As part of the licensing conditions, any online casino’s gaming software has to be regularly audited to ensure they stick to their pay tables and return-to-player (RTP) percentages.
Bet365 has not publicly revealed their auditing statistics. and they are not legally required to do so. However, they are licensed by the UKGC, who will request to see these audits on a regular basis. The UKGC may withdraw their license if Bet365 fails to provide the requested audits.
Bet365 Online Casino abuse reports
Bet365 had fewer than average number of complaints and abuse reports on third-party sites, in comparison to their competitors. However, under 25% of them had been resolved satisfactorily for both parties. Most of the solved disputes related to stringent withdrawal and account verification policies. The unsolved complaints were primarily about closed accounts.
Bet365 has mostly stayed out of the media spotlight– except for a singular court case in which a Northern Irish student won over a million pounds on a horse racing bet and was not been paid. Bet365 claims she was placing bets for third parties, as well as other breaches of their terms and conditions, and the trial continues.
Tools for problem gambling
Bet365 offers the following tools to help problem and potential problem gamblers:
- Advice and help
- Deposit limits
- Time out
Deposit limits are fairly self-explanatory, limiting how much you can deposit in a 24-hour, 7 day, or 30-day period. Unlike many online casinos, this is the only form of limit Bet365 offers. There are no loss limits or wager limits here.
Time outs are temporary exclusions that prevent you from betting or playing any casino games from your account for a specified time. This can be for 24 or 48 hours, or for seven or 30 days. This cannot be undone once it is initiated, but you can still log in to your account and make withdrawals during this time.
Self-exclusions are the same, except for longer durations– six months, one year, two years, or six years. During this time, Bet365 will take all possible steps to ensure you cannot open or continue to gamble on new accounts. Bet365 also partners with problem gambling help organizations GambleAware and GamStop.
Player account security
When it comes to data protection, Bet365 uses 2048-bit encryption SSL certificates provided by Thawte. Thawte is owned by global cybersecurity company Symantec, a prominent certificate authority and provider.
In terms of keeping your deposits secure, Bet365 states that “all funds that we hold for you are held in separate designated customer bank accounts to be used solely for the Purpose.” The UKGC has licensing conditions regarding the separation of accounts for customer money. This provides assurance that even in the event of bankruptcy or insolvency at an online casino, their funds will be protected. Bet365 meets the medium criteria of these regulations.
Bet365 also adheres to know your customer (KYC) procedures and may ask for your photographic proof of identity when making large withdrawals above €20,000. These procedures are not only designed to prevent money laundering and other fraudulent activity, but also underage gambling.
Awards and accolades
Bet365 won the eGaming Review (EGR) Award for Best Operator in 2010. EGaming Magazine also rated them as the most influential internet gaming company in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Bet365 founder and CEO Denise Coates also received a Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2012.
According to Bet365, the company “does not accept any liability for any damages, liabilities or losses which are deemed or alleged to have arisen out of or in connection with the Website or its content (including delays or interruptions in operation or transmission.” They also state that their liability does not exceed “the value of the bets and/or wagers you placed via your account.”
In the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section of their website, it states that should you disconnect during a live blackjack or casino hold ’em game at Bet365, upon your reconnection they will put you into a non-live game with the same card state as when you disconnected.
Banking options at Bet365 Online Casino
There are 12 deposit methods available at Bet365, all of which are presented on one page along with deposit limits, processing times, and additional information. The list of international methods on offer includes:
- Apple Pay: Tech giant Apple’s proprietary mobile pay system is convenient and extremely secure.
- PayPal: This internationally known e-wallet offers instant transfers and has over 230 million users worldwide.
- Paysafecard: This store-bought top-up card keeps your bank account and online activities entirely separate.
- Skrill and Neteller: These two e-wallets have over 20 years experience between them and are a perennial favorite of online casinos. You’ll find them as a deposit option almost everywhere.
- EntroPay: This e-wallet has had a strong international focus since their start in 2003. They have over three million users and claim to process the fastest transfers on the market.
- Bank transfer: Available to most customers, bank transfers could be considered the most secure since they involve no third-parties in the transaction. However, they are one of the slowest methods.
- Check: The slowest option by a long shot, checks are also not very secure when transferring large amounts of money by post.
All deposit methods are instant except for bank transfer, which may take one to ten days, and checks, which may take five to 28 working days. Any of the e-wallets offered here will provide fast and secure payments.
Of the 12 banking methods available at Bet365, only eight are available for withdrawals. Like the deposit options, they are clearly presented with minimums, maximums, and extra details. These eight options are:
- Visa (Min: €5) (Max: €20,000) (Time: 1-5 days)
- Mastercard (€5) (€20,000) (1-5 days)
- Skrill (€5) (€25,000) (Time: 24 hours)
- Neteller (€10) (€37,500) (Time: 24 hours)
- PayPal (€10) (€55,000) (Time: 24 hours)
- EntroPay (€10) (€99,999) (Time: 24 hours)
- Paysafecard (€5) (€2,000) (Time: 24 hours)
- Bank wire (€25) (€100,000) (Time: 2-10 days)
- Check (€100) (€50,000) (Time: 28 days)
Credit cards and debit cards take one to five days for withdrawals. All the e-wallets and Paysafecards take 24 hours. Bank wires may take two to ten days, and checks are the slowest method at up to 28 days. One to five days is quite slow for card withdrawals, compared to the top online casinos where it will be three days or fewer.
You will be required to submit identification documents, and possibly a proof of address, before making a withdrawal. Bet365 will also ask for proof of purchase when making withdrawals after a deposit from a Paysafecard.
Bet365 does not currently offer Bitcoin or any other kind of blockchain-based cryptocurrency payments.
Game selection and variety
Bet365’s collection is about average in size but could definitely be more extensive– especially when it comes to video poker and blackjack.
The games do not come with an easy-to-access information page. Instead, interested parties will have to visit the Bet365 casino help section and manually find their game in a long list.
Bet365’s casino games are mostly provided by Estonian developer Playtech, including the live casino. Many other casino sites using Playtech now use a different developer for their live dealer games, such as Evolution.
Bet365 offers 122 slot titles, which is towards the lower end for online casinos. Some of the titles here include:
- Sherlock Mystery (Return-to-player: 94.09%)
- The Matrix (95.14%)
- The X-Files (95.12%)
- Halloween Fortune (97.6%)
- Pink Panther (93.99%)
- The Mask of Zorro (94.99%)
- Raiders of the Hidden Realm (96.28%)
The Mask of Zorro is a action-packed, five-line slot based on the hit movie of 1998. Occasionally, Zorro will cut his famous mark onto the reels before a spin, adding three to seven wild symbols to the mix each time.
Raiders of the Hidden Realm is a graphically impressive 40-line slot with Game of Thrones-esque fantasy stylings and a relatively high RTP. This new title from Playtech also features three hidden mini-games to try.
The Bet365 collection also includes 32 progressive jackpot slots, with prizes ranging from over €9 million on Jackpot Giant to just over €10,000 on some of the lower-end titles. Some of these big jackpot games are:
- Batman Begins
- Age of Gods
- Deal or No Deal
- The Pyramid of Rameses
Bet365 hosts a relatively small number of blackjack games, just six at the time of our review. These were:
- All Bets Blackjack
- Cashback Blackjack
- Blackjack Surrender
- Premium Blackjack
- Buster Blackjack
- Lucky Lucky Blackjack
Bets range from €1 all the way up to €100 a hand on Premium Blackjack.
The best RTP of the blackjack games provided by Bet365 is the 99.6% you’ll get on Blackjack Surrender. This is because you can surrender your hand before you hit or stand to get half of your stake back.
When we conducted this review, Bet365’s roulette selection, outside of the live casino, consisted of seven tables. These are:
- Premium European Roulette
- 3D Roulette
- Classic Roulette
- Jackpot Dragon Roulette
- Multi-Wheel Roulette
- Roulette Pro
- Age of Gods Roulette
Again, this is fewer than the dozen or more tables offered by some other online casinos that also have a Playtech collection.
Two of these are progressive jackpot roulette tables, Age of Gods Roulette and Dragon Jackpot Roulette. The Age of Gods jackpot is triggered by a winning bet on the Age of Gods section that has been added to the wheel. Land on this and you’ll enter a special three-reel slot game in which you may take three spins to multiply your winnings and possibly win the main prize. The two games both had €250-€250,000 jackpots when we conducted our review.
At any online casino offering roulette, the American versions are the least advantageous. They usually have RTPs of lower than 95%. This is because they have two zeros on the wheel. Bet365 doesn’t provide any American roulette tables, but they do have the Age of Gods Roulette, which uses its jackpot counter as essentially a second zero.
The top roulette game for RTP is French Roulette. Second best is European Roulette, which has an RTP of 97.3%. However, Bet365 doesn’t provide the French variant outside of the live casino section.
Video poker selection
Bet365 comes with eight Playtech video poker tables, including one progressive jackpot Jacks or Better title. These are:
- Deuces Wild Multi-Hand
- Jacks or Better Multi-Hand
- 25 Line Aces & Faces
- Deuces Wild
- 4-Line Deuces Wild
- Caribbean Stud
- 4-line Aces & Faces
Bets start at €0.25 and go up to €12.50 split over multiple lines. The jackpot on their Jacks or Better game was around €1750 at the time of our review.
The only Jacks or Better variant at casino is the ten-line version. It offers a low RTP of 97.15%. It gives out five for a flush, seven for a full house and a jackpot bonus (on the first line only) when a royal flush is pulled. The jackpot was around €1250 when we conducted this review, although this is obviously variable.
The best RTP of any video poker title at Bet365 is four-line Aces and Faces, at 99.26%.
Live casino games
Bet365 offered 55 live casino games at the time of this review, all provided by Playtech. These were spread across tables of:
- Sic Bo
- Dragon Tiger
That number also included a limited-time football roulette, to tie in with the FIFA World Cup, and Playtech’s spinning Wheel-of-Fortune-type game Spin-a-Win.
Although 55 isn’t a huge number of live tables for an online casino, it was interesting to see such titles as Dragon Tiger and Sic bo available from Playtech, as these aren’t often provided by their online casino rival Evolution Gaming.
Bet365 has also invested in nine custom-branded private tables. They do not only look professional, but they also have space for exclusive offers and promotions within the games.
Bets at the live casino start at €0.25 a spin on roulette and go as high as €400 per hand on Bet365’s custom premium blackjack table.
Bonuses and promotions at Bet365 Online Casino
No deposit bonus
At the time of our review, there was no evidence of a no deposit bonus offered at Bet365.
Although common at many online casinos, Bet365 does not offer any kind of free-spins-oriented bonus.
First deposit bonus
Bet365 will give you a 100 percent deposit match (up to €100) with a €10 minimum deposit. For example, if you deposited €50, Bet365 would match that with €50.
The fine print
Your deposit and bonus money must be wagered 15x before you can withdraw winnings without forfeiting the bonus money. For example, if you deposited €50, Bet365 would match that with €50, giving you €100 to play. You would be required to gamble 15 times that amount, or €1500, to unlock any bonus money for withdrawal.
You have 30 days in which to complete your bonus requirements before any bonus funds (and winnings from them) are removed from your account. This is a generous time frame compared to many online casinos, some of which will only give you a week or less.
There are no restrictions on when you may withdraw money you deposited over the €100 bonus limit, as well as any winnings from non-bonus funds. However, if you choose to do so before you complete your bonus requirements you will lose any bonus money (and bonus winnings) left over.
There were no reload bonuses available on Bet365.
There were two other promotions at Bet365 during our review. One of these was a football-themed slots promo, and the other was for live blackjack only.
To receive one ticket into the €500,000 football prize draw, you must wager €10 (cumulatively) on the following list of slots:
- Age of Egypt
- Epic Ape
- Frankie Dettori: Sporting Legends
- Furious 4
- Gem Heat
- God of Storms
- Heart of the Frontier
- King of Olympus
- Legacy of the Wild
Each €10 wagered awards one ticket, and there is no limit to how many tickets for each draw an individual can earn. Daily draws will be for €1000, until the World Cup semi-final on July 8, 2018 when the prize will increase to €90,000. The pot will increase to €150,000 for the finals between July 12-15.
The last promotion at Bet365 was an instant €10 win from a five-card Charlie on one of their custom live blackjack tables, counted as real withdrawable funds and not bonus cash. A five-card Charlie is a winning hand of five cards or more. Winnings will be credited instantly to winner’s accounts, upon completion of the hand.
Game contribution table
As with most online casinos, different games contribute different amounts towards your bonus’ playthrough requirement:
- All games not mentioned below – 100%
- Baccarat and 3-card Brag – 25%
- Roulette, Sic Bo and Pai Gow Poker – 20%
- Video Poker – 5%
- Blackjack & Casino Hold ‘Em Games (except Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender) – 10%
- Blackjack Surrender, Blackjack Switch, Live Hi-Lo – 0%
For example, with a bonus of €20 and a wagering requirement of 15x, you would normally expect to wager €300 to complete the bonus. However, if you were to exclusively play roulette, then you would end up having to wager €1500 to play through your bonus amount. That’s five times more, as each bet only counts towards 20% of its value.
For every ten units of your currency you wager on Bet365 casino games, you will receive a varying number of comp points. The rates are as follows:
- Any Slot, Keno or Caribbean Poker: three points per €10 wagered
- All Other Games: one point per €10 wagered
- Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender: N/A
Every 100 points you accumulate can be traded in for one unit of withdrawable cash. For slots for example, this will give you a cashback rate of 0.03%. Other games will net you 0.01%. This is quite low compared to the 0.08% to 0.12% common at many online casinos.
Bet365’s loyalty program is tied into their cashback program. Simply accumulate enough points to reach each rank and improve your rewards. The ranks are as follows:
- Bronze = 50,000 points
- Silver = 150,000 points
- Gold = 500,000 points
The rewards available at each rank are:
Bronze: A €50 milestone cash bonus, and exclusive offers
Silver: Redeem 85 points per unit of currency instead of 100, and earn a €100 bonus
Gold: Redeem 75 points per unit of currency, and earn a €350 bonus. At gold status, slots players will therefore receive a 0.04% cashback rate.
Even the gold status cashback rate at Bet365 is not that great compared to the lowest level at some online casinos, although the €350 cash bonus helps to offset that.
Bet365’s Online Casino software
Bet365’s casino games can be accessed via:
- Mobile Site
- Mobile App for Android & iOS
- Downloadable Desktop Client
Some slots games and all bingo games are unavailable on the mobile app, but they can all be accessed via the mobile site using your device’s browser. The iOS app needs version 8.1 or later and has a four-star rating, with just under 2000 reviews. The Android app is available for version 4.0 or later, so it should work even on older devices. However, the rating is lower, averaging three-and-a-half stars in the Play Store with over 500 ratings.
Blackberry phones, Windows phones, or other devices can still access the Bet365 app through the mobile site.
Usability and Filtering Options
Bet365’s casino site looks bland and does not provide information for each game with a single click.
All the games in each category are displayed on one scrolling page. As with many online casinos, the search function was incomplete. For example, searching for ‘poker’ did not bring up all of the video poker games available on the site. Instead, it only showed the two games with the word ‘poker’ in their titles.
Bet365 also has a dedicated live casino section, as a well as a category for jackpot and video poker tables. However, roulette and blackjack were put together under table games.
All their games streamed in good quality and loaded quickly, even on a relatively slow connection. For international players, there are 18 languages to choose from that are easily accessible from a dropdown menu on the homepage. Lastly, no games at Bet365 can be practiced with play money without logging in first.
You can contact Bet365’s customer support via:
- Live Chat
- Telephone (UK: 08000 288 365) (International: +44 1782 684757)
- Email (email@example.com)
- Web Message
FAQs are also available on the site, although some sections only contain two or three questions and answers.
Lastly, you can contact Bet365 via their Facebook or Twitter accounts. They are active on Facebook, posting many times daily and generating thousands of interactions and comments on some posts. According to Facebook, they typically reply to messages ‘instantly,’ although we waited about five minutes for a response using their live chat feature. The Bet365 customer support agent we spoke to was helpful, polite, and help out even with technical questions regarding the casino’s payout tables and disconnection policies.
